Das Erzählen in frühen Hochkulturen führt in seinem zweiten Band „Eine Archäologie der narrativen Sinnbildung“ die bereits im Vorgängerband „Der Fall Ägypten“ gestellten Fragen zu den Bedingungen des Erzählens in einer frühen Hochkultur nun im interdisziplinären Kontext fort. Es werden kulturspezifische Einflüsse sozialer, kommunikativ-medialer, kognitiver und anderer Umstände auf die Entwicklung und die Ausgestaltung, die Konzeption und den Einsatz des Erzählens untersucht und daraus resultierende methodische Herausforderungen an eine altertumswissenschaftliche Erzählforschung diskutiert. Neben zwei Einführungsbeiträgen zur altertumswissenschaftlichen und zur narratologischen Perspektive finden sich in diesem Band Abhandlungen zum Erzählen in der hethitischen und der altägyptischen Kultur sowie in den antiken Kulturen Griechenlands und Roms.
In its second volume "Eine Archäologie der narrativen Sinnbildung", Das Erzählen in frühen Hochkulturen continues the questions already posed in the preceding volume "Der Fall Ägypten" on the conditions of narrative in an early advanced civilization in an interdisciplinary context. Culturally specific influences of social, communicative-medial, cognitive and other circumstances on the development and design, conception and application of narrative will be examined, and the resulting methodological challenges for the study of ancient history will be discussed. In addition to two introductory contributions on the perspective of ancient studies and narratology, this volume contains treatises on narrative in Hittite and ancient Egyptian cultures as well as in the ancient cultures of Greece and Rome.
